The Spectacular Camping Sites of Scotland

Scotland is that part of UK which is known for its natural and scenic beauty. Camping is therefore a favorite activity around this place and many come from far and beyond to get an exclusive Scottish camping experience. So here we present the list of some of the best camping sites of Scotland.

Marthrown of Mabie, Dumfries
Situated in Southern Scotland, this is a unique camping experience in the thick of the forest where you can stay in Iron Age houses called Tipi which is essentially a Yurt that has been reconstructed to house at least 16 people in it. A central fire keeps everyone warm from the cold of the boonies. Badrallach, Dundonnell
This is a scenic campsite situated along the sea loch and mountains around it. It is situated in the Northwestern part of Scotland and has all amenities for a comfortable camping on its site. However, the place lacks modern toilets to preserve the sanctity of the surroundings. Hook-ups are allowed and help is at hand when required. The Lazy Duck, Nethybridge
This is located in the heart of Britain’s largest national park, Cairngorms. It has all the basic amenities for an enjoyable experience and is a great escape from the stresses of city life.

Appplecross, Wester Ross

The campsite is located in the expanse of two fields. The grassy meadows are an excellent ground for pitching your tents. The fields offer great views of the Isle of Skye across the sea.

Achnahaird Farm, Achiltibuie
This is a lesser known campsite in the Higlands, situated across the craggy peaks of Suliven and Stac Pollaidh. The camping fields end at the Atlantic beach and give a great view of the mountains ahead.

Strathfillan Wigwams, Auchtertyre
This is a unique campsite located in the Western Highlands of Scotland. Instead of pitching their tents, visitors can stay cozy inside the wooden cabins provided here. The day times can be spent by walking and hiking on the highlands.

Rothiemurchus, Aviemore
Located in the ancient Caledonian forest, this campsite is one for the adventurous. You could pitch a tent or camp in the caravan. The campsite provides delicious food right from the estate and gets your fish from the loch to roast at the campfire. This is an out and out family camping trip.

Sands Holiday Centre, Gairloch
This is a perfect beach camping site. Pitching a tent on the sand dunes is how you camp at this site. From the comfort of your camp, you can view breathtaking sceneries of the loch and the craggy peaks beyond it. Hiking and fishing can be enjoyed at this campsite.

Red Squirrel Campsite, Glenco
One of the most spectacular campsites of Scotland, the Red Squirrel is located on the banks of River Coe and gives dramatic views of the peaks above its grassy fields.

Faichemard Farm, Invergarry
This is an adult-only campsite and the first of its kind in Scotland. The campsite is out in the boonies, surrounded by the forest and the giant Glengarry mountains and hence not suited for children or pets.
